AI Promotions: an introductory API price with an end date

Google's Gemini API pricing page lists gemini-4-argon at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens through November 30, 2026. From December 1 it is $4 and $20. It is not on the Free tier or the Google AI Pro plan. I read the vendor pages on October 15 and used no account.

What the pricing page says

Standard paid-tier prices are $2.00 input and $10.00 output per million tokens through November 30, 2026, and $4.00 and $20.00 starting December 1. Output includes thinking tokens. Context caching is $0.10 per million through November 30 and $0.20 after, and only implicit caching is supported. Google Cloud's launch post says cached input is 95% off.

Other modes follow the same shape. Batch and Flex are $1.00 and $5.00, then $2.00 and $10.00. Priority is $3.60 and $18.00, then $7.20 and $36.00. Grounding with Google Search has 5,000 free requests a month shared across Gemini 3 and newer models, then $14 per 1,000. The page says Argon is not available on the Free tier or the Google AI Pro plan, and that paid-tier use is not used to improve Google's products. Gemini API pricing Google Cloud launch post

My analysis

The price is an introductory rate with a date on it. If you plan a product or a budget on $2 and $10, plan for $4 and $20 from December 1, which is double. Batch or Flex halves the rate if your work can wait. I did not compare Argon with other models or test it, so I make no claim about value.

What I could not confirm

I did not make an API call, so I have not seen a bill. The Google Cloud post names the same intro rates for enterprise access, but I did not read Google Cloud's own pricing page. Prices can change, so check the page before you commit.
